One network to control everything from shopping to infrastructure?

Humanity’s developing, and of course such things would be convenient, because it’ll make a lot of things easier to do. But is it safe to have just one thing in control of everything?
I’ve just finished watching a movie called “Summer Wars”. They had that sort of network, in which everyone had their own account, even the president, the military, ordinary people. So they could control everything through it.
I understand it’s impossible for now, but still, just curious about your opinions.
