I use chevy chase & their debit cards have the Visa logo on it, so does that mean i can use it as a credit card for shopping online? & would it take longer for the payment to be comfirmed than a credit card, or is it just instant also?

Debit card works as well as a credit card, except it does not put you in debt. You use it only if you have money in the bank, not if you are hoping to get money in 2 weeks with your next paycheck, like most Americans, who spend money they don’t have to buy things they don’t need to impress people they don’t know or like.

Depending upon the situation, it can take anywhere from 2 seconds to 2 days for the payment to go through, so don’t use it if you are not sure if you have enough money.

It is okay to use your debit card for online shopping. It will process just like a credit card would. However you must remember that that money comes out of your checking account.

So if you don’t have any room for error in your accounts than you might think about setting up a seperate debit card account for your on-line purchases.
Also buy using a debit card for on-line than you will be able to resist impulse buying because you will have to plan to spend that money. If you use a credit card you run the risk of running up credit card debt that no one wants. Good Luck and happy shopping.
