What should I wear when shopping for my wedding dress?
I just got engaged and the wedding date is not yet set, probably sometime in the next year/year and a half. But I’ve decided to start looking at dresses and am wondering what kind of underwear I should wear when I’m shopping? Once I find the dress I’ll of course buy underthings specifically for that dress, but when I’m just looking what should I wear?

something you can get off and on easily and if you’re planning on wearing a strapless dress, get a cheap strapless bra - it’ll at least give you a better idea of fit rather than dealing with bra straps! Bring a shoe that’ll be a similar heel height of what you might want to wear, and make sure you have socks on to enter stores. Some stores make you take your shoes off and wear their slippers - or bring in your own pair of slippers.
COMFORTABLE clothing you can easily slip on and off is key though - especially if you’re not fortunate enough to fall in love with the first dress you try on.
Enjoy the experience!!! Fluff S
a good strapless bra so you can try different styles. also maybe shoes the height you want to wear. micheyL
Sports bra, Spandex pants, flip-flops. serious. GS
wear something that’s close to what you’d wear at the wedding. and then sweats over that.
something easy to slip on and off and be comfy in. good luck! and congrats! lynx
Clothes that are comfortable. Shoes that are good for walking, but bring along shoes of a similar height that you want to wear at your wedding (keep in mind the height of your FI). I would wear a bra that has removable\adjustable straps because you want to have to option to have strapless, one strap, halter, two straps, versatility is the key! Also, I would consider bringing along any kind of spanx or tummy concealer that you might want to wear, you’d be amazed at how much a little unpleasant tummy can make you dislike a dress, you want to look your absolute best in every dress so you can get a good impression of how you would look on the big day. lynnylou
wear something that is easy to slip off. You may want to wear a strapless bra and nude coloured panties. I wore flip flops too as it is easy to remove. autumn lover
Ok I am being completely honest here and before anyone even asks, this is my fiance’s yahoo account and I am a woman. So that being said I have been dress shopping 3 different times and each time was different. The first time I went to David’s Bridal and they let my mom help me put on the dresses, so it wasn’t really a problem. They asked my bra size and got me a strapless bra to try on the dresses with. The next two times the consultant helped me into the dresses and I didn’t expect to be completely undressed in front of a complete stranger, but I was. So I would suggest that you wear modest underwear, something that covers well and a strapless bra, especially if you have a larger chest like I do because none of the stores carried my size. Go in comfortable clothes that aren’t too complicated to get on and off many times. Good Luck!! Bj N
if you have an idea of what style of dress you want then at the very least wear the appropriate bra (for example: if you’re going strapless or spaghetti straps then wear a strapless bra or a bra w/ invisible straps. If you are looking for a backless dress or a halter dress then wear a bra for backless or halter dresses.)
don’t forget to take a pair of shoes that are the height you would like to wear at your wedding. You only need to wear them when you are trying on the dress, you don’t have to wear them all day. Wilma F
Wear a stapless bra and seamless underwear( not black and not a thong because chances are someone will assist you dressing)
If you can wear make up do so. but nothing that will get on the dress.
No jewelry most bridal shops will make you remove it anyway.
A button shirt if you have one. and shoes that are easy to pop on and off. Shelley
